Our Response to COVID-19

During the COVID-19 public health crisis, all domestic violence services provided by CCADV, our 18 member organizations and Safe Connect, CT's domestic violence resource hub, are fully operational. Currently, the majority of services are offered remotely or virtually. Shelters remain staffed 24 hours per day. Services include:

  • 24/7 crisis response
  • Safety planning
  • Counseling
  • Emergency shelter and other housing services
  • Risk assessment
  • Support groups
  • Legal advocacy including assistance with applying for a restraining order online
  • Information and referral

Advocates are available 24/7 to assist victims and survivors with the services above, or just to listen. Services can be accessed via call, text, chat or email. All services are confidential, safe, free and voluntary. Bilingual services are available. CTSafeConnect.org | 888.774.2900

Applying for a Restraining Order Online

Due to COVID-19, the CT Judicial Branch has reduced the number of open courts as well as the operating hours of those courts that remain open. CCADV worked with the Judicial Branch and Governor Lamont to establish a process whereby victims, or a third party on their behalf, can complete the entire restraining order application process online. Safe Connect and our 18 member organizations are available to assist victims with this process. Safe Connect advocates can:

  • Guide victims through the process remotely
  • Scribe the application on behalf of the victim
  • Electronically submit the application on the victim's behalf
  • Work with the victim's local domestic violence organization (one of CCCADV's 18 members) to coordinate service of process with a state marshal

Advocates can be reached 24/7 via call, text, chat and email at CTSafeConnect.org or 888.774.2900.
