Thank you to all of those who joined us for Emerging Best Practices to Strengthen Connecticut's Response: A "Domestic Violence Across Communities" Event.

The two day conference, which was co-sponsored by the CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the CT Department of Social Services, featured presentations by national and local experts on some of the most pressing issues facing victims today. Over 250 attendees gained tools and practical applications to enhance Connecticut's response to domestic violence in the areas of lethality assessment, fatality review, cultural responsiveness, the impact of domestic violence on children, trauma, cyber-stalking and offender accountability.

Recognizing that a strong multidisciplinary approach is necessary to respond to domestic violence, the conference brought together stakeholders from various professions that work with victims. Advocates, clinicians, law enforcement, attorneys and other state and local providers came together to learn from each other and share techniques for how to best meet the needs of victims. Presentations provided tips for strengthening policies and ensuring comprehensive prevention and intervention initiatives, leaving attendees strategically positioned to help advance our shared work.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy was also on hand advocating for early prevention with the aim of increased education for kids about what constitutes healthy relationships, as well as stronger policies in the workplace. Governor Malloy also presented a proclamation recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness month.
