Prudence Crandall Center

Part Time Shelter Advocates
Prudence Crandall Center is seeking Part Time Shelter Advocates to fill a variety of shifts at our 24-hour emergency shelter. These positions are responsible for providing advocacy, counseling, information, referrals, support and related services to women, men and children who have been impacted by domestic violence. Answering the 24-hour crisis hotline and assistance with all aspects of shelter maintenance and operations are also required. Starting salary: $10 per hour.

Positions work an irregular schedule of 0-31 hours per week as needed
and are required to cover at least three holiday shifts per year.
Local travel is necessary, reliable transportation required.

Minimum of 4 years of related education/experience required. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work with diverse populations, ability to work independently and demonstrated commitment to ending violence against women and children required.

The Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition (NDVSAC) is seeking a self-directed and experienced leader to fill the position of Executive Director. NDVSAC is a statewide coalition of 22 community based domestic violence and sexual assault programs, individuals and organizational members working together to end domestic violence and sexual assault. National Network to End Domestic Violence

NNEDV Communications Specialist

Reports to: Communications Director           Regular Work Week: 40 hour, M-F
Employment Classification: Exempt

Primary Responsibility
The NNEDV Communications Specialist is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of NNEDV’s media advocacy program, which provides tools and resources to journalists covering domestic violence and domestic violence advocates working with the media.
Essential Functions
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Director and general supervision of the President:
1. Designs, edits and produces content for media advocacy program tools.
2. Coordinates NNEDV media advocacy trainings and meetings.
3. Provides technical assistance to domestic violence advocates regarding media relations and public awareness.
4. Monitors national media coverage of issues related to domestic violence.
5. Assists in the production and distribution of media responses to current news events.
6. Performs general writing, editing, design and production work for publications and public awareness campaigns.
7. Coordinates with the Development Department on the design and content of organizational identity materials and brochures.
8. Works with the Communications Director to build and maintain effective relationships with the media.
9. Tracks NNEDV’s engagement with and presence in the media.
10. Acts as the primary liaison for media advisory committees.
11. Coordinates NNEDV’s speakers bureau.
12. Assists the Communications Director with the development and implementation of NNEDV’s communications plan.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
1. As needed and as assigned.
2. Some travel required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or communications required and/or equivalent work experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated skills in public relations and extensive knowledge of the news industry also required. Proficiency in publications software including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, and Windows operating system and programs.

Commensurate with experience and demonstrated skills. Benefits package includes medical, life and disability insurance, vacation, sick leave and 401(k) retirement program.
