Relationships are hard to talk about.
Getting help shouldn’t be.

Relationships, particularly unhealthy relationships, can be difficult to navigate. It’s not easy for anyone to understand why the person they love chooses to hurt them. Sometimes the hurt can be so subtle and gradual that it’s hard to notice the controlling tactics setting in. And sometimes the hurt is so pervasive that it simply becomes what we accept as “normal.”

Safe Connect advocates get it. They understand everyone’s relationship looks different and can change over time. Some survivors just want the abuse to end, not the relationship. Others want to end the relationship. Our advocates are here to listen and provide you with the options that make sense for what you want. You can share as much or as little as you want.

Launched in 2019, Safe Connect is Connecticut’s domestic violence information and resource line, providing a comprehensive, coordinated, and statewide response to the needs of victims, survivors and their families.

As the entry point for domestic violence services in Connecticut, one of the primary goals of Safe Connect is to enhance the ways in which people can get help. Our advocates are available 24/7 via phone, text, chat or email. So you can talk to an advocate in the way that feels most comfortable to you.

Safe Connect is also designed to increase accessibility of domestic violence services for communities of color and non-English speaking survivors who often face the greatest barriers to accessing help. We have built a team of highly compassionate, bilingual and multicultural individuals who are reflective of the communities we serve. Safe Connect advocates are 100% bilingual, come from 12 different countries and speak over 13 languages. And if we don’t have someone on staff who speaks your language, we have the technology and resources available for real-time translation.

All sevices are confidential, safe, free and voluntary.
